The Risala of Imam Abu Muhammad ‘Abd Allah ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani (d. 386 AH) is among the most famous and widely studied primers in the fiqh of Imam Malik. In clear, concise language it brings together the creed of Ahl al-Sunna, every chapter of fiqh, and a selection of the manners and etiquette of the believer. For centuries it has been the foundational text for beginners and a reference to which jurists return.
This edition presents the bare text (matn), prepared for memorization and study, and its text is verified against the Dar al-Gharb al-Islami edition and the commentary al-Thamar al-Dani. It is beautifully typeset with logical line breaks and ample room in the marginalia to allow for easy annotation.
